Hey guys!

Now this weeks post was actually meant to be about depression and how to deal with it, however because of the Syrian refugee crisis that has come to light this week, I really wanted to take the time to talk about it while its still fresh in everyone's mind. Before you go on to read this I must warn you my opinions could be seen as bias, what I mean by that is I was raised in Syria and I am in fact half Syrian, I was born here in the UK however my mother was not, she was born and raised in Syria and my family moved there when I was 5 years old (we lived there for 8 years and moved back when the civil war started) so ask you can tell this is a sensitive topic for me.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week most of you would have seen/heard about that picture of the 3 year old Syrian boy who was found washed up on the shore of Turkey, this picture blew up in the media over the past few days and many people have demanded the UK let more Syrian refugees into the county.

David Cameron of course refused to do so as well as many other people living in the UK, because of the fear they might "steal" our jobs, first of all I would like to point out this...

Migrant: a person who moves from one place to another in order to find work or better living conditions.

Refugee: a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.

these poor Syrian refugees are not here to steal your jobs, they are hear because they don't have a choice! trust me they would much rather stay in their home. Secondly many people feel that the UK can't possibly handle more people coming into the county because they claim we don't have the money or because we're full up, well for those of you who do feel this way take the time to read this...
I personally find it ridiculous that In 1937 Britain welcomed 4,000 refugee children fleeing the Spanish civil war, A few years later Britain had given shelter to 70,000 Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria and in 1956 when Soviet tanks rolled into Hungary we took 20,000 people, In 1972 When Idi Amin threatened 60,000 Asian Ugandans with death we welcomed 25,000 of them. In the 90's 20,000 refugees displaced by the conflict in the Balkans found safety in Britain.

Today, millions flee bombs and chemical weapons in Syria, unleashed by their own government. How many refugees have we accepted...

216!

Why the hell is this number so low! why have the UK accepted millions of other refugees in the past but not the Syrians! it makes no sense, its our responsibility as human beings to help them!
I still can't wrap my head around this! something needs to be done to help these people! and I personally find it shocking that its taken us this long to realize this, if we were willing to take these refugees in a long time ago less of them would be dead, little boys and girls would not be dead, the elderly would not be dead and children wouldn't have had to see their parents suffer while their childhood gets taken away.
Please take the time to help these kids in need, and welcome them into our country with open arms!
you can sign some petitions to help get them into the UK as well as donate to the children in Syria (I will leave the links down below)
